Workshop Success! WooHoo!

Well, I demonstrated at my first ever workshop yesterday. It was what I would call a success! Darla was an extremely gifted hostess. The spread was yummy! I was well-prepared and flew through my demonstrations. We had a few laughable moments. All in all it was a good time and generated some sales and great hostess benefits for Darla! Here is a photo of the cards I did. I tried to cover a variety of products & "ooh ahh" techniques that are easy to do (heat embossing, poppin' pastels, punch art). The make-n-take card involved 2-step stampin' (The Heartfelt Thanks card below).
The apple core punch art card is a CASE from someone at SCS (I don't have my thumb drive here to give proper credit. Sorry!).

I also made a very girly scrapbook page for Darla to keep since she has a daughter. This was extremely fun for me since I am surrounded by boy stuff! It utilized the Big Shot for cutting & embossed textures.

So there you have it folks...a weekend filled with abundant creativity and successful sales. WooHoo! One guest even said, "Well look at that, I can be crafty after all!" I call that a job well done on my part!

Scrapbook WOW! Class

My first class that I am offering is a Scrapbook WOW! class. This is a class where you will make a scrapbook page using Stampin' Up! embellishments and fun techniques to make a scrapbook page that has a "wow factor!"

This month I am borrowing a design from my upline, April. It was so much fun to do (I even did a technique I had never done before!), that I decided to share the fun with you. I am also really looking forward to designing my own in months to come as I plan to offer this type of class on a monthly basis.

You will be using Decor stencils, filigree & rhinestone brads, & wide grosgrain ribbon to make this beautiful 12x12 2-page spread with a too-cute ribbon flower in a yummy pink & gray color palette.

When: Saturday, May 9, 4:00-6:00ish
Where: my house
Cost: $12 (includes all consumable supplies needed to complete this beautiful page, use of my stamps, ink & tools, plus 1-on-1 instruction & guidance from me)
Please bring your own scissors & adhesive (or let me know if you need me to order you some).

My Tiles

I made this first tile to set up with my Stampin' Up! display at work. I designed it with colors to match my scraproom.

I had someone ask if I could make her one to purchase for her daughter. I said, "Sure!" and my tile making frenzy began! She asked for pastels, but no pink, cupcakes, & her name. Here is what I came up with:
Then I made a bunch of Easter-themed tiles with a cross & John 3:16 on them (sorry, didn't take a picture of these) Oops! They sold pretty quickly. I offered to do custom work and had this next bunch requested:
For these, I stamped all the designs, but used ink-jet printable rub-ons for the scriptures. I was really happy with how they came out. I am also getting ready to work on two more custom designs.

These really are beautiful irl with their natural background,and glaze only on the stamped images. This is such a fun and rewarding project.

Making Plans...

Wow! Life has really gotten away with me this week. It's been a busy one with work, kids, & baseball. I haven't had time to photograph, let alone post my latest creative efforts. Let me say though that I am planning some classes for May, and my first ever workshop... um, party...I'm not quite sure what the correct terms are yet for the different events. It will be on the 18th and I have some great stuff planned to demo along with a super cute make-n-take project. I'm really excited about it and I think my enthusiasm has rubbed off some on my hostess...thanks, Darla! Here's hoping for a successful first go at it!

So excited...I got a big ol' box of box of goodies on my doorstep on Thursday. This evening I played around some with my new Big Shot dies & embossing folders. I plan to do some creating this weekend. I'll be sharing soon!

This card is one of my favorites I made this weekend. It's just "cute." I used craft ink and embossing. I cheated a little with the border though because my scallop border punch was in transit from SU! I used my *gasp* Fiskars one. The same effect can be made using the 1/16th hole punch on the SU! Scallop Border punch, so not a big cheat.
